Diesel Mechanic
Description

This position is responsible for the diagnosis and repair of all vehicles and equipment serviced by the Company’s facilities. Service Technicians are expected to perform with the highest degree of professional competence as it relates to quality of work, product knowledge.

Responsibilities
  • Inspecting and troubleshooting trucks, trailers, and equipment.
  • Troubleshooting engines, brakes, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
  • Perform 90-day DOT inspections and fluid services.
  • Diagnose trouble in diesel engines
  • Operate various testing, repair equipment, and follow automotive and equipment diagrams
  • Perform acetylene and electric welding
  • Use tools, machines, and testing instruments of the trade
  • Understand and carry out oral and written instructions
  • Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy and pay attention to details while meeting deadlines.
  • High adaptability to a constantly changing environment with the ability to learn very quickly
  • Ability to be self-motivated and work with minimum supervision

  • Able to work in a fast paced and varying atmosphere
  • A strict adherence to safety and best industry practices
  • Possession of a valid California Class C Driver's license with a driving record sufficient enough to be able to be added to California Material's Insurance, Class A preferred
  • Possess a standard, as defined by company, set of hand tools.
  • Foreman Experience a Plus
Qualifications
  • 18 years of age.
  • Minimum tool requirements
  • High school graduate, GED, or 1 year work experience.
  • 1-year heavy duty truck experience.
  • Ability to perform vehicle lubrication systems and D.O.T. safety inspections.
  • Dependable team player with a positive attitude.

Requirements

  • Pre-employment screening includes a DMV record review and a drug test.
  • Routinely moves equipment weighing 50 pounds.
  • Basic computer skills to be able to use fleet management software.
  • Detailed oriented with a positive attitude and aptitude.
  • Takes responsibility and ensures the job is completed.
  • Willing to work overtime when needed.
